Palestine calling
The Palestinian call for cultural boycott asks artists, cultural organizations, and art lovers around the world to recognize Israeli cultural institutions’ complicity with Israeli apartheid, to refrain from participating in cultural events in Israel, and to boycott events sponsored by the Israeli government, Israel lobby groups, and complicit Israeli institutions. Artists around the world, including Elvis Costello, Gil Scott-Heron, Lauryn Hill, Cat Power, and Lorde are heeding the call and canceling events. And thousands of artists and cultural workers, including Chuck D., Massive Attack, Arundhati Roy, Angela Davis, Mira Nair, and Mike Leigh, have endorsed the cultural boycott.

On November 14, 2015, nearly 400 New Yorkers packed the Verso Books loft in DUMBO, Brooklyn, to capacity for “Palestine Calling: A Launch Party to Amplify the Cultural Boycott of Israel in NYC.” Celebrating the launch of Adalah-NY’s cultural boycott campaign, the evening featured live music, DJ’d dancing, and a sneak preview of a new video of eight prominent artists with ties to New York explaining why they endorse the cultural boycott of Israel.
